Materials
FabLand specialises in metal fabrication of flat sheet/plate. Our most competitive areas are laser cutting and folding but we do offer other services such as welding, powder coating and other fabrication.
Steel
Steel has a long lasting nature and it’s difficult to find a material that is as durable, sleek, versatile and looks great and is cost effective. We process various steel grades such as:
Stainless Steel (304, 316, 308, 317, 904L and many other grades) – Primarily for marine, outdoor, food and beverage industry. We generally cut thicknesses from 0.5mm and up to 8mm in Stainless Steel.
Core-Ten (often specified when a desired level of rust is required in architectural application to produce a zero maintenance natural look). We generally cut thicknesses from 0.5mm and up to 10mm in Core Ten grade.
Mild Steel
This is the most popular grade for products that are required to be powder coated. Being the most cost effective grade mild steel is often used for applications indoor, structurally, or where further coating such as powder coating is used. We generally cut thicknesses from 0.5mm and up to 10mm in mild steel grade.
Aluminium
If you are after light weight materials or products that are resistant to corrosion then Aluminium is the logical choice. We fabricate products from checker plate/trade plate, flat sheet or a wide range of aluminium alloys that you can choose from. We generally cut thicknesses from 0.5mm and up to 5mm in Aluminium grade.
Carbon Based – Wood and Plastic
We also have a laser cutter dedicated to producing products from carbon based materials such as MDF, plywood, acrylic, polycarbonate and other wood and plastic materials.
Often for interior products 2 pack epoxy coated MDF products are a great alternativel to powder coated steel especially when used indoors and/or weather resistance is not required. This can save a signficiant amount of cost, time and weight, while still delivering the required look and feel of the metalic alternative.
These more cost effective materials are also a good way to get proof of concept for prototype products before finally making them from metalic materials.
